Could Not Write To The USB Device (Code:0)!

Getting that error when using the extractor.

I have formatted the sdcard to fat32

The sdcard is unlocked

The sdcard is the correct type

I have tried pulling out the card and putting it back in again.

I have tried reformatting it again and restarting the program.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I am on Win 7 Pro 64

Thanks

    Hello,

Please try using a different card reader or a Nook Tablet or Nook Color.

Please let us know if that works.

  • I don't have another reader.

How do you use a Nook tablet in this instance?

    Please do the following:
Download the file to your Windows PC.

Please make sure the SD Card is in your Nook and your Nook powered on and connected to your computer with its USB Cable.

Once it finishes downloading the file please right click it and choose "Run" or "Run as administrator"
You will then see a box pop up and it will go through an extraction process.

When that is done, you will see our N2A Writing Program open.
Please choose your SD Card and choose Write.
After about 2 hours the a green bar will have gone across the screen and you will see a Success message.

Once you get the Success message power off your Nook.
    Then power your Nook On.

You will then boot to Android!
    Enjoy!

If you would like, you could also follow along with the FAQ below on how to install the Instant Download.

    Hi

I downloaded the installer again just to be sure it wasn't a corrupt installer.

I booted the installer using run as Administrator.

The card is not locked as mentioned before, the card has been formatted fat 32.

I tried to write to the card directly from the installer with the card in the pc.

Again... same response as the title of this thread.

I then tried the idea of putting the SD into my nook and plugging that in

The installer does not recognize the card when it is in my NOOK.

The NOOK appears in my device tree as MyNOOK

    Any other suggestions?

Can this be done on a linux device instead?
I also have another linux computer that I could try on.

    Thanks

ps - I am able to write and delete from the card like normal so I know it isn't the adapter device. The test files are also visible on the nook when I plug that card in there too. * all test files are deleted by formatting before doing any of this recent testing of course in case you thought otherwise

  • I’m thankful
    Ok

So I worked this out eventually.

For whatever reason attempting to write directly to the SDCARD in an Adapter on Win 7 Professional 64 bit kept on failing.

I remembered I had an android phone that I could put into 'hard drive mode' and with a usb cable I hooked it up and it appeared in the extraction program as a writeable device.

Running the extractor it took the specified time of about 120 minutes and then voilĂ ! It is done!

My device is now booting into N2a happily now.

Thanks for everyone's help and don't give up if you get stuck.

    Cheers

  • I am currently having the code 0 issue as well. I have tried the suggestions here and I am getting nowhere. I was able to write this in the past, but the update that I tried to install on my N2A made it decide to never boot up and figured I would rewrite the original download to another card and try that. Now I am stuck.

  • Hi Paul,

    Sorry to hear that.

If you would, please try a different card reader.

That seems to be resolving the issue.

    Have a great week!

  • Hello All-

I too had micro sdcard reading issues. I tried using several different adapters, etc., windows 7 X64 home premium. Nothing worked. Then I transferred the dl'd file to my win xp netbook, plugged in the sd card and it ran and wrote the fifle to the card. This was in September. About 3 weeks ago I took out tyhe micro sd cxard from nook hd+ and tried to install the new update using win 7x64. Same error messages as in Sept. So, I took out my ols laptop with win xp and the card was overwritten with the new file very nicely. So I suggest issues with win 7 and/or Toshiba (make of laptop). Helium restored my files beautifully.
